Part I
Case Method Teaching Seminar Part I is intended for all instructors, regardless of their level of experience with case method teaching. The seminar covers a broad range of topics:
• | Establishing and shaping the learning contract |
• | Questioning, listening, and responding |
• | The teacher/student relationship |
• | Designing the discussion plan |
• | Practicing the skill |
Part II*
Case Method Teaching Seminar Part II* is intended for instructors who have attended Part I and have 3–5 years of experience teaching with cases. In the advanced seminar, participants spend more hands-on time devising teaching plans and strategizing how to handle common classroom challenges.
Teaching with Cases Online: Web-Based Training
Teaching with Cases Online is a 3-week web-based seminar that includes asynchronous and synchronous activities. Seminar objectives:
• | Learn about multiple case discussion facilitation and debrief approaches for both asynchronous and synchronous environments |
• | Experience these approaches as both students and instructors |
• | Review assessment strategies tailored to these multiple approaches |
The next web-based seminar will be held October 14 – 30, 2014. Participation is limited to faculty who already know how to teach with cases, but perhaps have never taught an online case-based class, or if they have, are looking to refine their skills. Learn more.
